Introduction
On Menstrual Hygiene Day, May 28, 2025 , the Research and Entrepreneurship Park hosted a Menstrual Health & Hygiene Conclave in association with UNICEF, the Ayurarogya Saukhyam Foundation, the ActionLab 2050 Foundation, and the Odisha Menstruation Health and Hygiene Alliance . At the #MHHConclave2025 , five powerful tracks were unveiled that will steer this year’s ReFlow: Menstrual Heal th Innovation Hackathon 2025 .
With these themes , #MHHHackathon2025 invites coders, creators, designers, and changemakers to rethink menstrual health an d co create solutions that transform lives, while building a sustainable and inclusive ecosystem that bridges academic research, community practices, and policy advocacy for meaningful progress in menstrual health and hygiene (MHH).


Hackathon Themes
Each theme is designed to spark innovation, challenge assumptions, and build solutions that create real impact in menstrual health and hygiene. Applicants must apply for one of them
Menstrual Health as a Livelihood
Theme/Problem: Periods & Professions
Challenge: Create business models or skill building modules for women and youth to earn through MHH focused social enterprises.
Menstrual Health and Faith
Theme/Problem: Faith, Culture & Periods
Challenge: Design communication materials, dialogue models, or digital storytelling too ls that address menstrual health in culturally sensitive ways.
Reusable Menstrual Produc ts
Theme/Problem Statement:
Reusable menstrual products like cups, pads, and period panties reduce waste and cut costs, but they are mostly sold online. This limits access for rural users and those without digital literacy.
Challenge: Design a mobile app that allows pharmacies, medical distributors and SHGs to place bulk orders for reusable menstrual products and track inventory.
Online Awareness Campaigns for Sustainable Period Products
Problem Statement: Young people spend a lot of time on Instagram , YouTube and WhatsApp but few know the facts about the health and environmental impact of disposables.
Challenge:
Design a creative online campaign that:
- Educates and engages young peopl e (15 25 yrs)
- Uses reels, vox pop, memes, or storytelling
- Is easy to replicate by school clubs or youth volunteers
IOT solutions in Menstrual health and hygiene
- Bio degradable Yet Economical Sanitary Napkins
- Environment Friendly Smart Incinerators
- Automated, Periodic Awareness Drives
- Washroom Hygiene Monitoring in Institutes Without Dedicated Housekeeping
- Smart Vending Machine Refill and Maintenance System
Target Audience & Participation Guidelines
Who Can Participate
Start ups, students, researchers, innovators, professionals, social workers, NGOs
Start-Up India Encouragement
Start ups registered with DPIIT under Start up India programme are encouraged to participate in this program
Innovation & Business Model Criteria
Entity working towards innovation, development or improvement of products, processes or services, or if it is a scalable business model with high potential of employment generation or wealth creation. Entity should not have been formed by splitting up or reconstructing an already existing business.
Individual Participation
Individual academicians, researchers, educators, entrepreneurs, partnership firms, and LLPs are also eligible to participate. However, if selected, they will be required to register as a private limited company within a stipulated timeframe, preferably within 3 months.

Applications are invited from across India. (Note: No TA/DA will be provided.)
