Conclave on Menstrual Health and Hygiene to Commemorate Menstrual Hygiene Day
AL2050, UNICEF, OMHH Alliance and IITBBS REP unite to promote menstrual wellbeing

Bhubaneswar, 11th March 2025: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bhubaneswar is gearing up to host the Conclave on Menstrual Health and Hygiene on Menstrual Hygiene Day to be observed on 28th May 2025. The conclave will be jointly organized by IIT Bhubaneswar Research and Entrepreneurship Park (IITBBS REP), UNICEF, ActionLab 2050 (AL2050) Foundation, and the Odisha Menstruation Health and Hygiene (OMHH) Alliance. Before the event, the website of the Conclave was launched on 8th March 2025.
This initiative seeks to establish a sustainable and inclusive ecosystem that bridges academic research, community practices, and policy advocacy to advance Menstrual Health and Hygiene (MHH) across Odisha. Prof. Sreepad Karmalkar, Director of IIT Bhubaneswar, will serve as the Patron for this effort. Mr. Srustijeet Mishra,Ms. Shipra Saxena, , Mr. Bikash Kumar Pati, Dr. Soobhankar Pati and Dr. Seema Bahinipati, are coordinating the efforts from AL2050, UNICEF, OMHH Alliance, and IITBBS REP, respectively. Ms. Anju Bisht, Saukhyam Reusable Pads, (recipient of “Women Transforming India” by the NITI Aayog) and Ms. Purabee Purnasha Mishra, STPI, Bhubaneswar, are also contributing as key core committee members. The conclave will be a dynamic platform for sharing knowledge, fostering discussions, and driving action toward improving menstrual health and hygiene practices. It will bring together a diverse group of experts, advocates, healthcare professionals, social workers, and individuals directly affected by menstrual health issues to collaborate on practical solutions for enhancing education and access to menstrual hygiene facilities.
Additionally, this initiative will feature innovation hackathons and outreach programs in the future to further these objectives
